Get out and vote!

Torontonians, today is the day!  There are only 3 reasons you should not vote today:

  1. You already voted.
  2. You are not a citizen of Canada (like me).
  3. You are not of age.

So get out and do it!

I agree fully that it is important to get out and vote. We are lucky to have this opportunity. What is missing for me however is the option on the ballot for “none of the above”. I sense that we will be in for a rough ride this coming term. Any candidate that has a real chance of winning frightens me immmensely.

I have 23 Counsel candidates and have seen a sum total of zero at my door. Save an except one shouting match they call a “debate” I would not even know what those in the running actually look like

The only individual I feel confident voting for in my riding is the School Board Trustee.

So here is the problem….. If we simply go out and spoil out ballot, the only one that gets the message is the Scrutineer. The end result is the same though. A very small group will end up making the selection.

We could however, choose NOT to vote and register our protest in this manner. What if they hold a party and no one shows up? Perhaps this would be a stronger message indicating that we take our right to vote seriously. Perhaps we need a system that will put forward more credible candidates.

I hope that my school board trustee appreciates my vote. It is the only one going on my ballot.
