What’s in a title?
I’ve been ruminating. Dangerous. One of my least favorite moments of rabbinic life (and honestly, there aren’t that many), is when someone called me “Rabbi Ellie”. You see, I completed nine years of schooling to receive my rabbinic ordination and … Continue reading
Did you vote?
Today is an election day in the USA. I have to say, after the Canadian adventure, it felt so good to go to a polling place and cast my ballot. Voting by mail just isn’t the same (and yes I … Continue reading

Reading: I’ve become a baseball fan. According to THE DIVA I have multiple baseball allegiances disorder because I like more than one team (Go Angels! Go Red Sox!) Now I’m even reading books about baseball. Three Nights in August by Buzz Bissinger … Continue reading
A good coach
In the last several months there have been some very disturbing stories about coaches and their abhorrent behaviors. It is hard to remember sometimes that there are a lot of good coaches out there that serve as role models for … Continue reading

It has been an insanely long time since I wrote a blog post, mostly because I have lots of ideas running through my mind and not enough time to actually write things down. Every graduate of the Rhea Hirsch School of Education at HUC-JIR writes this guide on a topic of their choosing for any of the following settings: camp, religious school, adult education or day school. My curriculum guide is about Modern Hebrew poetry for adult learners in the congregational setting. Exciting, right?
A lot of interesting things have been happening in Israel. By ‘interesting’ I mean completely ridiculous and offensive. The political cartoon connected to this post effectively sums up what is going on. If you haven’t seen the flash mob video from Beit Shemesh, you can watch it here.
School days…
Last night I read a fascinating article (posted by someone on Facebook) in The Atlantic about the school system in Finland. As you know, this year I am studying to earn a masters in Jewish education and am doing a … Continue reading
One of those days
With zero time in it for blogging. So today’s post is about how I don’t have time to write one. Hopefully tomorrow will be different.

Hi!
The prompt for today from NaBloPoMO is too intense. I am just writing to say hi. I hope that I didn’t upset anyone with my somewhat aggressive rant. I None of you clearly take my ranting too seriously, or maybe … Continue reading
